After 20 something years of using food grade Hydrogen Peroxide, we are still constantly amazed over its many uses…
Where to buy food grade H2O2
Garden of Eden
Store food grade H2O2 in a labeled UV protected bottle and place in a cool, dark, and safe place away from pets and children. H2O2 reduces in strength less than 1/2 of 1% per month when stored in a refrigerator (but not in a freezer!).
To make a 3% Solution, mix 1 oz. of 35% food grade Hydrogen Peroxide with 11 oz. of Distilled Water.
Some of the many uses of food grade Hydrogen Peroxide
Garden
- Sprouting Seeds: Add 1 ounce of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide into 1 pint of water and soak the seeds overnight. Add the SAME amount of Hydrogen Peroxide when you rinse the seeds. (Some people have reported 3/4 inch Sprouts in 24 hours!)
- Plants & Flowers: Add 1 oz. of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide in 1 quart of water to water or mist plants. (This will enhance the growing environment)
- Insecticide Spray: Add 8 ounces white sugar and 4 – 8 ounces 3% Hydrogen Peroxide to 1 gallon of water.
Food and Water Storage
- Salad: Add 1 Tbsp. of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide to 1/2 cup of water and spray the top of the salad before covering and refrigerating.
- Vegetable Soak: Add 1/4 cup of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide into a gallon of cold water. Soak light/thin vegetables (Lettuce, etc.) for 20 minutes. For thicker skinned vegetables (like Cucumbers) for 30 minutes. Drain and dry (they’ll keep longer). If time is an issue, you can spray vegetables with straight 3% Hydrogen Peroxide, let stand for a couple of minutes, rinse and dry.
- Milk: Add 2 drops of 35% Hydrogen Peroxide (full strength) per gallon of milk. This extends the expiration date considerably (works great for us!).
- Water Storage (For two months or more): Add 30-50 drops of 35% Hydrogen Peroxide in 1 gallon of water.
Cleaning House
- Sparkly Clean Glassware: Add 2 oz. of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide to your regular dishwasher washing formula.
- Kitchen: Keep a Spray Bottle of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide in the kitchen. Use it to wipe clean counter tops, inside your refrigerator and appliances.
- Washing/Laundry: Add 8 oz. of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide to your wash instead of Bleach .
Health and Hygiene
- Bath: Add 1/2 to 1 pint of 35% Hydrogen Peroxide to a full bathtub. ( Try not to use this close to your bedtime as the increased oxygen absorption may keep you awake.)
- Mouth and Teeth: Add enough 3% Hydrogen Peroxide to baking soda to make a toothpaste. Use 3% Hydrogen Peroxide as a mouthwash.
- Humidifiers/Steamers: Use 1 pint of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide to 1 gallon of water.

Would it not be the same as ozonated water?
Interesting question.
We will have to look up the atomic structure of ozonated water in order to understand what is really is… We’ll research and tell you what we find.
I could only purchase 50%ww Hydrogen Peroxide in our area.
Could you advise how I should mix it with water to obtain 35%,8%, 6% and 3% solutions please?
Thanks,
Don.
did u get a reply Id like to know also Thanks Paula
Great post! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Cheers,
Kristen
this might seem like a silly question but is their organic and non-organic H2O2?
Hi Chris,
Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) doesn’t contain a carbon-hydrogen bond (C-H).
It is inorganic (like metal and minerals).
However, there is adulterated and unadulterated Hydrogen Peroxide. “Food Grade” Hydrogen Peroxide is unadulterated because it doesn’t contain preservatives. The H2O2 in the brown bottle at the supermarket has preservatives (adulterated).
Oh, just because unadulterated H2O2 is called “Food Grade” it isn’t food; please, please dont drink Hydrogen Peroxide!
In response to subodh kumar’s question about ozonated water:
Ozonated water is not the same as Hydrogen Peroxide.
Using ozonated water as a replacement for Hydrogen Peroxide in the methods we suggested in our post may be effective – Although, we have not tested the dilution/disinfecting efficiency.
Ozone is also known as trioxygen (O3) because it consists of three oxygen atoms. Ozone has many uses – such as a disinfectant for water, food, and hospitals/structures.
Ozonated water is water that has been treated with Ozone. Using Ozone is a cost-effective method of treating water and safer than the more traditional chlorine treatment. Ozone breaks down fast and doesn’t remain in the water after treatment.
Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) is water (H2O) with an extra atom of oxygen (O).
Similar to Ozone in some of it’s uses, H2O2 is used an antiseptic, an anti-bacterial agent and a bleach.
In nature, Hydrogen Peroxide is created in the atmosphere when ultraviolet light strikes oxygen in the presence of moisture. When ozone comes into contact with water, an extra atom of oxygen splits off. Water (H20) combines with the extra atom of oxygen and becomes hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). But this is NOT “ozonated water”.
Please dont print what you dont know about. I almost died from cancer,H202 saved my life,I was told to make my final arrangements as I had less than a month left! I started the H202 hoping for a little more time, this was 2 years ago. If i can save some other lives,i will scream this out at the top of my lungs. It must be mixed with distilled water and handled in a safe way,but it IS a life saver. Lou
This such great information! Thanks for sharing it with us.
Will H2O2 harm the worms in my garden if I use it for watering? mixed with water of course..
Thank you…
pl give us same information requried
how mouch use H2O2 raw milk per liter
way as a presevation
thanks
I have read a lot about h202 healing cancer. It is all about oxygenating the cells so the body produces more oxygen and eradicates the disease. You say not to drink hydrogen proxide but they say to put drops of this natural oxygen theropy ingredient into water and drink 3 times a day. I am confused. Is H2O2 safe to drink or not. I am trying to find cure for my sisters lung cancer.
Aloha, Great site 1 You cleared up so many of my questions. I too have been looking into food grade H2O2. From my research I have discovered the reason for using food grade is to avoid the preservatives. Great healing will take place with just 0.45%. So just add a drop to a tall glass of water three times a day. Remember to keep the H2O2 in a blue or brown glass bottle to keep the sunlight out. Mahalo for all your research. It was interesting to understand Ozone too.
I love the site! Organic/Green Living is wonderful and sharing tips of information to be successful at it is even better!!
I use the hydrogen peroxide for cleaning and plants too. I love my indoor herb garden! 🙂
Keep it coming!

Food grade H202 is Great, Great, Great! I used it to get rid of a virus. My symptoms were gone two days after use . Also, I had brittle nails. My finger/toe nails were so weak my whole pinky toe nail would fall off several times. I am proud to say my nails are beautiful now than they have ever been. They are super strong, and shiny. I am amazed at this. I thank God for finding this product. This is a keeper for me.
are you all insane” a “how is hydrogen peroxide organic ? or has the meaning of organic changed recently and i know they call it organic peroxide because it occurs naturaly in certain beatles etc so how useful would some naturaly occuring urainium be around the house and garden. I think the general idea was that you only use organic compounds on your garden which can be obtained easily from the environment around you not from applied chemicals or monsanto grow up or wise up your all heading for irritable bowel syndrome as you destroy the natural bacterium and bascilla in your houses and gardens !
in response to ozonated water question , no it is not the same , it is a precursor . Ozonated water is hit with ultraviolet light to make h2o2. The same way ozone is made from oxygen in atmosphere
The sprouting thing is bogus. I just tested it with some lentil sprouts and the ones soaked and rinsed in tap water grew much faster and had more sprouts than the ones soaked in food grade peroxide. It could be because sprouts grow differently than plants with actual leaves that use photosynthesis, but needless to say, I am disappointed. Peroxide use seems negligible or even harmful in this case.
I like your posting, when I see your blog it make me want to read more. This really is one of the better blog on this subject. I think I will subscribe.I’d like to see what comes next.
You need to take part in a contest for one of the greatest sites on the net. I’m going to highly recommend this blog!
I want to start ingesting H2O2 for a health benefit. Is it truethat this will help my fungus toe nails and help to eliminate waste in my body? Please reply with the truth.
