Hi JillyJoe,
Thank you for adding a gardening aspect to coffee.
Here in the desert, we love the acidifying effects of coffee grounds in our soil - our soil is very alkaline naturally.
Hope you are happy, well, and brewing up some good cups of joe!

Coffee grounds are good for the garden, too. They have a highly desirable 20:1 ratio of carbon to nitrogen so are the ideal addition to your compost. Only add small amounts to your worm farm though. The acidity slows the worms right down - exactly the opposite to us.

You can put coffee grounds straight onto the garden as mulch too but beware as very fine mulches will hold a lot of water and often actually prevent the rain from getting through to the soil.

Coffee grounds are acidic so strawberries, tomatoes, blueberries, persimmons, citrus trees and acid-loving ornamentals such as azaleas & camellias will thrive on them. Tea leaves do the same thing.
